Job description
Job Summary
This role involves overseeing and coordinating the efforts of kitchen staff, ensuring high standards in food presentation, portion control, and garnishing. The Sushi Chef will monitor food quantities, notify service personnel about menu specials or unavailable items, and prepare special or alternate meals. Additionally, the position includes supporting kitchen colleagues by providing necessary resources and carrying out various support tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise kitchen workers and cooks to maintain smooth operations.
- Develop creative and appealing food displays.
- Maintain accurate records under the food safety program and monitor food product quality, reporting issues to management.
- Monitor kitchen stock levels and supplies.
- Assist management with recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating kitchen staff.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and security procedures, reporting any risks or maintenance issues.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Engage with guests professionally to address service requirements.
- Foster good working relationships with team members, supporting and responding to their concerns.
- Meet quality standards and perform physical duties including standing, walking, bending, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
Qualifications
- Technical, trade, or vocational education is preferred.
- Between 4 to 6 years of relevant culinary experience.
- At least 2 years of leadership experience in a supervisory role.
- No specific licenses or certifications required.
