Job description
Position Overview
The Rooms Controller role is responsible for managing room assignments aligned with guest preferences, handling check-in and check-out procedures, and maintaining accurate billing and reservation data at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in Doha, Qatar.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Allocate guest rooms based on requests and preferences when feasible.
- Pre-register designated guests and assemble key packets.
- Coordinate check-in and pre-registration tasks for incoming groups.
- Monitor and manage requests related to room changes or check-outs, communicating updates with relevant teams.
- Confirm reservations and cancellations accurately.
- Daily review of rooms that are out-of-order.
- Ensure that room rates align with current market codes and document any deviations.
- Validate and adjust guest bills as needed.
- Maintain guest documentation and files securely.
- Manage guest check-in and check-out processes, including activating room keys and securing valid payments.
- Identify and resolve over-commitments and duplicates in reservations, blocking rooms accordingly.
- Generate and review daily operational reports.
- Follow up with guests to resolve issues and ensure satisfaction.
- Accurately receive, document, and relay messages.
- Adhere to all company policies, maintain a professional appearance, and safeguard confidential information and company assets.
- Greet guests warmly in line with company standards, anticipate their needs, assist guests with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, manage written documentation, and handle telephone etiquette appropriately.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate tasks efficiently.
- Exemplify professionalism and foster positive team relationships.
- Comply with quality assurance standards and perform related physical activities including standing or walking for extended periods and handling items up to 10 pounds.
- Carry out additional reasonable duties as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum education requirement: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Work experience: Less than one year in a related role.
- No supervisory responsibilities required.
- No license or certification necessary.
