Job description
Overview
The Surveyor will manage all surveying operations associated with bridge and infrastructure construction projects. This role demands precise site measurements, setting out tasks, and continuous verification of construction alignments and levels. The candidate will also perform as-built surveys and collaborate with project teams to ensure construction complies with approved designs, specifications, and project standards.
Key Duties
- Conduct site surveys, establish control points, and set out bridge and infrastructure elements accurately.
- Check horizontal and vertical alignments for bridges, roadways, retaining walls, culverts, and related structures.
- Accurately set out foundations, pile locations, abutments, piers, bridge decks, utility corridors, and road components.
- Verify coordinates, levels, and measurements prior to and during construction activities.
- Maintain survey control networks throughout the duration of the project.
- Support construction, engineering, and quality teams with surveying inputs.
- Monitor construction adherence to design tolerances and assist in resolving field measurement discrepancies through coordination with design and site teams.
- Prepare and confirm as-built survey data for completed works and support progress assessments and quantity verifications.
- Ensure compliance of all surveying activities with project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
- Maintain detailed survey documentation and verify contractor survey submissions, offering technical guidance.
- Assist quality control inspections and audits related to survey activities.
- Operate and manage survey devices such as Total Stations, GPS/GNSS systems, Digital Levels, and Laser Scanners as applicable.
- Process and analyze field survey data using survey software and CAD tools, generating reports, drawings, and coordinate sets.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies; engage in safety meetings and promote safe onsite surveying practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Holds a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional surveying certification or registration is preferred.
- Possesses 5 to 10 years of extensive surveying experience in major civil infrastructure projects.
- Has at least 3 years of focused experience on bridge construction projects.
- Prior work experience in the GCC region or specifically Saudi Arabia is highly desirable.
- Experience collaborating with international consultants, contractors, or governmental infrastructure agencies is an advantage.
- Strong grasp of bridge geometry, structural alignments, and construction tolerance requirements.
- Proficient in reading engineering and IFC drawings as well as survey control data.
- Deep understanding of infrastructure construction techniques.
- Highly detail-oriented and accurate in measurement and reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective at communicating and coordinating within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to produce detailed reports.
- Capable of performing efficiently under pressure and meeting project deadlines.
