Support Worker - Motueka

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities in Motueka. This permanent full-time position involves working approximately 65+ hours every two weeks, including varied shifts such as mornings, evenings, sleepovers, and one weekend every fortnight. The hourly wage ranges from $24.68 to $30.13, dependent on qualifications.

In this meaningful role, you will help individuals live fulfilling, self-directed lives at home and in their communities by fostering independence, managing daily routines, promoting health and well-being, and supporting personal goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in developing daily living skills, such as using public transportation and cooking.
• Support personal care activities including showering, dressing, and medication management.
• Encourage and facilitate engagement in hobbies and personal interests.
• Promote healthy lifestyle choices and overall wellness.
• Help strengthen relationships with family (whānau) and the wider community.

Candidate Requirements

• No previous health or disability sector experience is necessary; strong enthusiasm and a positive attitude to becoming a Support Worker are essential.
• You must be available to work various shift patterns, including sleepovers and one weekend every two weeks.
• Comfort with the daily use of computers and tablets is required.
• Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
• Physical capability to provide necessary support.
• A valid Full New Zealand driver's license.
