About the Role

As an IHC Community Liaison, your primary responsibility will be to create valuable opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to engage, participate, and flourish within their local community. You will oversee and implement inclusive programs, run volunteer-driven friendship and learning initiatives, and foster partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and local networks to support skill development, confidence-building, friendship creation, and a stronger sense of belonging.

• Coordinate volunteer-led community and learning programs.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteers effectively.
• Connect people to inclusive opportunities enhancing their skills and social inclusion.
• Establish and nurture partnerships with local community groups, businesses, and networks.

Key Qualifications and Attributes

This role calls for a candidate with proven experience managing people, a passion for inclusion and community participation, and a solid grasp of volunteer management, community engagement, and inclusive practices. You should be well-connected in the community, proactive in partnership building, and skilled at fostering trusted relationships with diverse groups. Furthermore, you should possess excellent organizational skills and a solutions-oriented mindset.

• Strong ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with diverse groups and individuals.
• Clear, flexible, and adaptable communication style.
• Excellent organizational and self-management capabilities.
• Competence in understanding and creating operational systems and processes.
• Experience supervising volunteers or extensive involvement as a community volunteer.
• Knowledge or practical experience working with people with intellectual disabilities.

Compensation

The salary range for this full-time, onsite position based in Hamilton is NZD 70,000 to 77,000 annually, including a work vehicle.
