About the Role
The Storekeeper plays a vital role within the construction sector by managing receipt, storage, issuance, and maintenance of materials, tools, equipment, and consumables. This involves ensuring effective inventory control, maintaining accurate records, and making sure that materials are available on time to support site operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming materials thoroughly and confirm they match purchase orders and delivery documentation.
- Organize and store materials securely and systematically to avoid damage or loss.
- Distribute materials, tools, and equipment to site workers based on authorized requests.
- Keep detailed and accurate accounts of all stock received, used, and currently held.
- Track inventory levels continuously and coordinate with Procurement or Site Management for timely replenishment.
- Perform routine physical stock audits and reconcile findings with inventory records.
- Manage documentation including Goods Received Notes, Material Issue Vouchers, delivery receipts, and stock logs.
- Label and identify all stored items properly to maintain order and ease of access.
- Maintain a clean, orderly store environment adhering to safety regulations.
- Report any damaged, expired, or missing materials promptly.
- Liaise effectively with Procurement teams, Site Engineers, and Project Management concerning material needs.
- Ensure proper issuance, tracking, and return of company tools and equipment.
- Assist with both internal and external inventory audits as needed.
- Adhere strictly to company rules, procedures, and health and safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of high school education or an equivalent qualification; having a diploma in Logistics or Store Management is beneficial.
- At least 3 to 4 years’ work experience as a storekeeper in a building construction environment.
- Sound understanding of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations including Microsoft Excel and inventory management software.
- Excellent organizational skills with a focus on accurate record-keeping.
- Strong communication and the ability to work well within a team.
- Preference for candidates available for immediate joining.
