About Hot Topic and the Role

Hot Topic is dedicated to music, pop culture, and delivering an exceptional in-store experience to both customers and employees. We are seeking a Store Manager who will lead the store in achieving its sales goals and cultivating a passionate team to energize the fandom experience on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the store to meet or exceed sales objectives, focusing on both overall sales and comparable store sales performance.
  • Recruit, develop, and maintain a motivated and cooperative team that supports store operations and customer engagement.
  • Engage with customers via social media, store web platforms, and personalized clienteling to generate buzz and loyalty.
  • Manage smooth daily operations with a balanced approach to structure, delegation, autonomy, and prioritizing customer-first sales tactics.
  • Monitor loss prevention strategies, control payroll expenses, manage staff schedules, and address external business factors.
  • Maintain clear communication with retail leadership and headquarters regarding market trends and customer feedback.
  • Analyze sales data through reports to inform strategies and drive sales performance.
  • Adapt to new technologies, enforce company policies, and oversee supply spending judiciously.
  • Ensure effective merchandising using planograms and timely promotional displays to create compelling store presentations.
  • Foster talent by mentoring team members, recognizing performance, and providing constructive feedback to build a strong staff bench.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 1-2 years of experience managing retail stores, with proven leadership in team building, communication, recruiting, payroll, reporting, scheduling, and merchandising operations.
  • Minimum educational requirement of a high school diploma or GED; additional degrees are advantageous.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic retail environment and handle change with resilience.
  • Interest and openness towards pop culture, fandoms, and music trends.
  • Physical capability to navigate the store, utilize merchandising equipment, and manage merchandise boxes up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.

Additional Information

Compensation begins at the posted pay range though final salary varies based on education, location, qualifications, training, and experience. This role offers the opportunity to influence and enhance the in-store customer experience while leading a passionate team in a vibrant retail setting.
