Store Manager

Overview

This position is for a Store Manager at Michaels located in Toronto/Downsview, ON. The role primarily focuses on managerial responsibilities such as leading and managing the store team, ensuring a superior customer experience, and achieving business objectives within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all store operations and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), company policies, and legal requirements.
• Drive sales, profit plans, and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with annual goals.
• Lead the execution of the company’s customer brand promises and implement shrink and safety programs.
• Utilize company tools to set goals, prioritize tasks, and communicate expectations with staff.
• Hire, train, develop, and coach team members to maintain performance and support career advancement.
• Promote a positive, respectful environment that reflects the organization's vision and values.
• Function as Manager on Duty (MOD) as required.
• Maintain operational knowledge of all store departments and ensure cross-training among managers, particularly in Custom Framing sales and production.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

• At least five years of retail experience including expertise in inventory management, merchandising, and excellent customer service.
• Minimum two years supervising a diverse team involving performance management and talent development.

Physical Requirements

• Capability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the store.
• Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
• Occasional lifting of heavy items and accessing high shelves with ladders or similar equipment.
• Interactive accommodations available for those with disabilities to perform job functions.

Work Environment

• Store is a public retail setting with supervised team members and customer focus.
• Climate-controlled public areas; some non-climate-controlled stockrooms; some outdoor duties.
• Frame shop environment includes glass cutters and heat presses.
• Work schedule may include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Compensation and Benefits
