As a certified B Corporation, Patagonia dedicates 100% of its profits to confronting the environmental crisis, emphasizing product quality and sustainability. The company culture reflects the founding values of climbers and surfers, focusing on simplicity, utility, transparency, equity, and environmental stewardship.

Role Overview

We are launching our first Auckland store in Tāmaki Makaurau this November and are seeking an experienced and passionate Store Manager to lead the retail team. This position is based in our Auckland CBD store and reports to the Retail Area Manager. The Store Manager embodies Patagonia’s brand, enhancing customer experience and fostering a hub for environmental activism, sport, and community spirit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and nurture a dedicated team to provide exceptional customer service consistent with Patagonia's mission and values.
  • Balance commercial success, operational excellence, and community impact to drive store performance.
  • Recruit, mentor, and empower a diverse team, cultivating an inclusive and positive workplace culture.
  • Establish strong ties with local community and environmental groups to extend Patagonia's mission.
  • Organize events, campaigns, and experiences to deepen customer and community engagement.
  • Oversee sales, inventory, labor, and critical business metrics to secure sustained store success.
  • Ensure the store environment is safe, inviting, and visually engaging for customers and staff.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, demonstrating integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to protecting the planet.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Proven leadership in retail with experience managing teams and delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Passionate about people development, able to coach and inspire others to maximize their potential.
  • Commercially savvy, skilled at managing sales goals, operations, and business priorities effectively.
  • Confident in decision-making within a fast-changing context, applying creativity and sound judgment.
  • Adept at building relationships with customers, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Dedicated to creating an inclusive, respectful, and safe workplace for all employees.
  • Strong affinity for the outdoors and environmental stewardship, aligning with Patagonia’s mission and values.
  • Humble, curious, collaborative, and invested in contributing to a purpose greater than oneself.
