Store Detective (SIA Licensed)

Role Overview

Kingdom Group seeks an experienced Store Detective for a full-time, permanent position based primarily at Tesco Stevenage, with responsibilities extending to other Tesco stores in Stevenage, Cambridge, and surrounding areas. The position demands vigilance to deter theft, safeguard assets, and ensure safety for customers and employees.

Working Hours and Location

The role requires 40 hours weekly, distributed over 5 days in a flexible shift pattern covering Monday through Sunday, including weekends. Shifts last 8 hours with variable start times, determined via a monthly rota. Travel between various store locations within the SG1, SG2, SG7, SG8, CM2, CM77, CB1, CB5, CB23, and CB24 postcode areas is essential, with the candidate's own vehicle necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Surveil store activities to detect and mitigate theft, fraud, and other offenses.
• Perform covert surveillance and investigations without uniform.
• Collect and secure evidence, such as CCTV recordings and witness accounts.
• Recover losses by apprehending offenders in accordance with legal and company policies.
• Document incidents and investigative findings thoroughly.
• Communicate intelligence effectively to management and security teams.
• Coordinate with police and external organizations when appropriate.
• Advise and assist store personnel on crime prevention measures.
• Maintain an appropriate, professional presence when necessary.
• Manage confrontations calmly and professionally, maintaining safety at all times.

Candidate Qualifications

• Must possess a valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
• Prior experience in retail security, loss prevention, or as a store detective required.
• Strong observational skills combined with clear communication and report writing abilities.
• Confidence and professionalism in handling conflicts.
• Capable of providing a verifiable 5-year employment history.
• Holds a full UK driving licence and has personal transportation.
• Flexible to travel among various Tesco sites within the specified postcode regions.
