About the Role
We seek a seasoned Storage & Backup Engineer (Associate Manager level) to oversee storage and backup operations within a sizable enterprise infrastructure in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This position involves managing SAN storage systems, backup environments, disaster recovery processes, and ensuring the continuous availability of key business systems. Additionally, the role entails leading a technical team, coordinating with stakeholders, and enhancing storage and backup services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of storage and backup engineers to achieve operational excellence.
- Administer and sustain enterprise storage solutions including Dell EMC Unity, PowerMax, Isilon, and Data Domain platforms.
- Manage Veritas NetBackup setups, handling backup policies, monitoring, diagnostics, data restore operations, and report generation.
- Guarantee successful execution of backup jobs in accordance with agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
- Oversee storage tasks such as provisioning, LUN configuration, data replication, performance tracking, and capacity forecasting.
- Support disaster recovery procedures including planning, testing, and validating backup restorations.
- Continuously monitor storage and backup infrastructure leveraging tools like SolarWinds and Dynatrace.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, database, and network teams to ensure seamless business service operations.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, operational manuals, and disaster recovery plans.
- Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, governance reviews, and initiatives aimed at service enhancement.
- Handle incident, request, change management, and asset tracking using ServiceNow platform.
- Ensure adherence to security policies, regulatory requirements, and operational standards.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 6 years experience in storage and backup system administration.
- Proficiency with Dell EMC storage platforms including Unity, PowerMax, Isilon, and Data Domain.
- Strong hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Veritas NetBackup environments.
- In-depth knowledge of SAN, NAS, storage replication methods, and data protection technologies.
- Experience in disaster recovery planning and executing recovery tests.
- Background in managing enterprise data center environments.
- Excellent troubleshooting capabilities and effective stakeholder communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and foster operational improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL v4 Foundation certification.
- Certifications in Veritas NetBackup.
- Dell EMC storage-related certifications.
- Experience with Zerto replication and recovery software.
- Familiarity with VMware or Hyper-V virtualization administration.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
