Role Overview

As a Stockperson / Cartpusher at Walmart Canada, you play a key role in ensuring a safe, orderly, and inviting shopping environment. Your duties revolve around collecting shopping carts from various store areas and returning them to their assigned locations using specified safe methods. This position emphasizes customer engagement, safety adherence, and contributes to smooth retail operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather shopping carts from designated cart corrals, parking lots, and store perimeters and return them to assigned storage areas following Walmart's approved procedures.
• Accurately complete required logs related to cart collection and storage.
• Respond promptly to requests from register attendants and customer service, including assisting customers by carrying items in or out and verifying purchase receipts as necessary.
• Carry out occasional cleaning and maintenance tasks such as restroom upkeep, adhering strictly to guidelines on chemical usage, waste disposal, and safe equipment handling. Conduct mandatory safety inspections on equipment before use.
• Comply with all safety protocols, including hazardous material communication, lockout/tagout procedures, and bloodborne pathogen precautions to maintain safety for both customers and staff.
• Wear required personal protective equipment like steel-toe footwear and reflective vests, conduct safety sweeps, and follow company policies to maintain a hazard-free workplace.
• Maintain flexibility by being available to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure uninterrupted store operations.

Challenges in This Role

• Manage high workloads efficiently in a fast-paced environment, especially during overnight shifts, by planning to stay focused and energetic.
• Perform physical activities including standing for long periods, bending, lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs, and completing repetitive stocking and organizing tasks with consistent attention to detail.
