Job description
Job Summary
The Stocker is responsible for delivering prompt and friendly customer service, efficiently stocking shelves with products, and keeping aisles clean and safe. This role supports inventory management and ensures compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide courteous and helpful service to customers.
- Unload products from pallets, stock shelves, and unpack boxes to replenish inventory.
- Rotate merchandise to prevent expired products from remaining on shelves.
- Organize and front-face items neatly on shelves to enhance presentation.
- Conduct inspections according to HACCP guidelines to ensure food safety.
- Review inventory daily to monitor product rotation and reduce shrinkage or damage.
- Confirm shelf pricing accuracy reflecting current market conditions.
- Maintain cleanliness of stocking areas by regular scrubbing and cleaning beneath pallets.
- Identify and promptly address potential safety hazards on the sales floor, including spills and debris removal.
- Report low stock or out-of-stock products to supervisors immediately.
- Perform additional related duties and assist other departments as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Effective communication skills with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Basic proficiency in reading and math.
- Strong dedication to company values and excellent customer service focus.
Physical Requirements
- Mandatory use of steel toe boots.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying heights and distances, including frequent and constant lifting tasks.
- Capability to push or pull equipment weighing up to 500 pounds.
- Physical skills including agility, finger and manual dexterity rated between 80-100%.
- Ability to stand or walk constantly, bend or stoop frequently, and occasionally kneel, squat, climb steps or ladders, and reach above shoulder level.
Work Environment
- Primarily moderate temperatures with exposure to refrigerated and freezer areas, and variable temperatures due to proximity to loading and front-end areas.
- Work involves operating or working near moving equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
