Steward

Position Overview

The Steward role involves operating and maintaining various kitchen cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. Responsibilities include thorough cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen and storeroom areas, utensils, tables, knives, and equipment. Additionally, the position entails receiving deliveries, proper storage and rotation of perishable goods, and maintaining cleanliness standards for all wares.

Key Duties

• Utilize detergents and sanitizing chemicals to clean dishes in a three-compartment sink.
• Inspect, sort, and stack cleaned items; return soiled items for re-scrubbing and washing.
• Spray racked items with hot water to remove food residues and handle washing/re-washing of silverware.
• Break down dirty bus tubs, empty and maintain trashcans and dumpster areas.
• Clean and mop kitchen and assigned departmental areas; dispose of glass and recyclable materials correctly.
• Follow all company policies on safety, security, and asset protection; report any accidents, unsafe conditions, or maintenance needs promptly.
• Maintain professional communication and foster positive relations with coworkers to achieve team objectives.
• Physically handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
• Perform additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications and Preferences

• No minimum education requirement; a high school diploma or GED is not mandatory.
• No prior related work or supervisory experience required.
• No licenses or certifications necessary.
