About AMD

AMD is dedicated to creating advanced products that drive next-generation computing experiences, ranging from AI and data centers to gaming, PCs, and embedded systems. Rooted in a culture that values innovation and teamwork, AMD encourages bold thinking, ingenuity, and a collective passion to develop extraordinary technologies. The company values diversity, collaboration, humility, and strives for execution excellence to address the world's toughest challenges.

Role Overview

The Staff Test Product Development Engineer in ATE Test Engineering will lead the test solutions for a next-generation AMD product, focusing primarily on Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) Fuse solutions. This role requires collaboration with multiple internal teams including Product, Design, Security, Platform Engineering, Device Analysis, Quality, and Reliability Engineering to create test plans, support silicon bring-up and debug, optimize yield and performance, control test costs, and improve product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop characterization and test coverage strategies during the pre-silicon stage.
  • Define pattern requirements and manage design verification activities in the pre-silicon phase.
  • Execute characterization and test plans on recently produced silicon.
  • Design wafer and package level fuse modules for testing programs.
  • Lead silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation of test programs.
  • Conduct device characterization, analyze circuit sensitivities, perform root cause investigations, and recommend mitigation solutions.
  • Collaborate with global teams to resolve device failure issues.
  • Innovate and contribute new concepts in device testing, debugging, design for test (DFT), and design for manufacturing (DFM), following them through to completion.
  • During production, optimize test content to meet or exceed business objectives.
  • Drive product margin optimization from fabrication to backend testing to meet financial targets.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in the semiconductor industry with deep expertise in test engineering and security module development.
  • Proficient in fuse and security module pattern development and debugging.
  • Understanding of hardware security module (HSM) architectures related to key management, secure storage, and cryptographic functions at silicon and system levels.
  • Familiarity with firmware bring-up and debugging, particularly hardware/software co-debugging during boot and hardware initialization.
  • Strong foundation in DFT and ATE test methodologies, including program development, validation, and debugging across pre- and post-silicon phases.
  • Experience developing ATE test classes and methods, preferably with Advantest 93K; involvement in full product cycles is an advantage.
  • Programming skills in Python, Java, Perl, or C++.
  • Knowledge of EDA tools from Mentor, Synopsys, or Cadence or experience in system-level testing is beneficial.

Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
