About the Role
AMD is dedicated to advancing technology that positively impacts lives worldwide, driving innovation in supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI sectors. We are seeking an experienced CPU Verification Engineer to join our Cores Organization, which delivers leading-edge CPUs and caches integral to AMD's server, client, and gaming products. This role is based in Dublin or Cork, Ireland.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform functional verification for high-speed microprocessor designs, including developing infrastructure and directed/random test suites at behavioral RTL and gate levels across SoC, Core, and block hierarchies.
- Create environments, infrastructure, and detailed test plans for both full-chip and standalone block verification, utilizing simulation and debug tools along with programming skills grounded in architectural and HDL design understanding.
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot directed x86 assembly tests and random exercisers to validate processor functionality and testability, leveraging programming in C/C++, Perl, Assembly, and strong logic simulation abilities.
- Coordinate deliverables with RTL, DFT, Implementation, and manufacturing teams across disciplines and sites.
- Analyze functional and code coverage metrics and adapt or develop tests to fulfill coverage goals.
Preferred Experience
- Expertise in ASIC verification at the IP level.
- Experience working with clock and reset blocks within SoCs is strongly preferred.
- Proficient programming skills in x86 assembly, C/C++, Perl, and Ruby with solid logic simulation knowledge.
- Strong command of Verilog and System Verilog HDL.
- Familiarity with modern computer architecture concepts is advantageous.
- Knowledge of DFT methods including JTAG-1149.x, Memory/Logic/I-O BIST, and scan design techniques (LSSD/MuxD).
- Previous verification work on microprocessor designs is beneficial.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, Makefile, and shell scripts preferred.
- Leadership or mentorship experience is considered an asset.
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional verification experience.
