Staff Software Engineer - Seller Onboarding Platform

Overview

This position involves developing, testing, and delivering high-performance, scalable software solutions to support millions of international Walmart customers, specifically in supply chain management and customer experience domains.

Team Context

The role is within Walmart Global Marketplace's Seller Onboarding team, a critical business segment enabling third-party sellers to list products, dispatch orders, and traverse various processes. The onboarding team focuses on facilitating smooth entry of new sellers and their participation in exclusive programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, execution, and thorough documentation of software projects.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across different geographical regions to share knowledge and contribute to the broader technology community.
• Partner closely with Product Management and Business stakeholders to define priorities and deliver impactful products.
• Utilize technical expertise to design enhanced processes and solutions that align with strategic business goals.
• Work in concert with Architects and cross-functional teams following established architecture and delivery standards ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
• Create comprehensive high-level and detailed designs, lead technical discussions and decisions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• At least 11 years of experience designing and developing highly scalable applications and platforms.
• Strong foundation in computer science principles including algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
• Practical experience building Microservices and RESTful APIs using Java frameworks such as SpringBoot or Dropwizard.
• Deep understanding of Cloud and Microservice architectures, including ecosystems like Service Registries, ELK/Splunk, virtual machines, plus container technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working within Agile development environments along with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Git, Maven, Jenkins.
• Proven track record of full lifecycle ownership on at least one cloud-centric project.
• Strong development skills enabling rapid prototyping of technical solutions.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, software engineering, or a closely related field with a minimum of 4 years’ software engineering experience.
• Alternatively, a minimum of 6 years’ experience in software engineering without the degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science or related areas combined with at least 2 years of software engineering experience.
