Role Overview

The Staff Software Engineer will join the Unified Access and Lifecycle Services team within the Growth Engineering organization in Dublin. This team develops high-throughput, highly available backend services critical to SiriusXM and Pandora’s user experience, serving tens of millions of listeners primarily in North America.

Responsibilities

• Lead a geographically distributed team of engineers across Europe (Spain and UK) with strong collaboration.
• Collaborate closely with other service teams, client SDK developers, data engineers, and analytics stakeholders.
• Innovate and construct scalable, high-performance solutions meeting expanding business needs, translating concepts into architecture diagrams and technical briefs.
• Promote a positive engineering culture fostering best practices and high-quality standards.
• Facilitate architecture discussions and planning for complex systems.
• Design simple yet robust solutions to challenging problems.
• Ensure code quality through thorough peer reviews and pull request feedback.
• Demonstrate both individual and team accountability in all stages of software lifecycle.
• Write and evaluate technical proposals and conduct root cause analyses for system issues.
• Explore and recommend new technologies strategically aligned with business goals.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in Scala programming and functional programming techniques.
• Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs for enterprise solutions.
• Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including source control, continuous integration/delivery, and testing methodologies.
• Expertise in distributed systems with a history of managing multiple high-throughput production systems.
• Hands-on production experience with AWS services including compute, databases, storage, containers, and serverless architectures.
• Experience using asynchronous programming models suited for JVM-based high-throughput environments.
• Ability to balance engineering trade-offs pragmatically against business requirements.
• Curiosity to deeply understand system purpose and design needs.
• Strong ownership and accountability mindset that extends beyond deployment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
