Role Summary
The Senior Software Engineer position lies within the Device Services team of the Growth Engineering group in Dublin. This team manages critical device-related services involved early in application startup, enabling device authentication, trust, and seamless user access. These services handle tens of millions of devices and listeners in North America with emphasis on reliability, scalability, and operational sophistication.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, maintain, and enhance resilient services responsible for device identity, authentication, metadata, and lifecycle management.
- Create highly efficient low-latency and high-throughput systems critical to client application initializations and access control.
- Work collaboratively with teams in User & Identity, Vehicle Services, Client SDK, Platform, and Data Engineering to ensure integrated, dependable end-user solutions.
- Promote superior software quality through comprehensive design and code reviews, testing methodologies, and best operational practices.
- Diagnose production problems, conduct root cause analyses, and continuously advance system availability, monitoring, and performance.
- Contribute to architectural planning and help drive the progression of the device trust and authentication infrastructure.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum five years of relevant professional software engineering experience.
- Background in backend development with JVM-based languages like Scala, Java, or Kotlin; strong preference for Scala and functional programming experience.
- Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs at an enterprise scale.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including source control systems, continuous integration/delivery pipelines, and varied testing strategies.
- Robust understanding of distributed systems, with proven experience supporting high-throughput production environments.
- Hands-on experience using AWS infrastructure services such as compute, storage, databases, containers, and serverless solutions in production.
- Familiarity with asynchronous programming paradigms, especially on JVM platforms targeting high performance.
- Analytical mindset balancing engineering decisions with business imperatives pragmatically.
- Curiosity and inquisitiveness to deeply understand system behaviors and necessities.
- Strong ownership mentality extending beyond deployment and into ongoing system health.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
