Job description
About Block Labs
Block Labs is a leading technology studio specializing in cutting-edge Web3, Artificial Intelligence, and iGaming innovations. We focus on creating scalable, production-ready platforms that fuel the next generation of digital products. Our team consists of senior engineers, product strategists, and creators committed to architectural excellence, designing autonomous multi-agent AI systems, decentralized financial infrastructure, and high-frequency iGaming platforms.
We value rapid progress while maintaining sustainable, long-term solutions. If you seek collaboration with highly skilled professionals who prioritize deep technical expertise, thoughtful system design, and product ownership, Block Labs is your ideal workplace.
Role Overview
You will develop distributed, transactional backend systems across cryptocurrencies, fintech, and real money gaming domains. These systems handle high volumes, are multi-tenant, and operate in real time. Accuracy is critical due to direct impact on balances, payments, and player-related decisions. Responsibilities span multiple products in conjunction with business priorities, requiring adaptable ownership of backend services implemented in Go.
Key Responsibilities
- Transform business goals and constraints into clearly defined, prioritized, and deliverable tasks.
- Architect and build distributed Go services managing high-volume transactional workloads, integrating payments, diverse providers, and internal platforms.
- Explicitly define and uphold strict correctness guarantees, especially where transaction and balance accuracy is mandatory.
- Leverage an agentic engineering process that encompasses context setting, task decomposition, execution, and verification to produce quality outputs.
- Create frameworks and safeguards such as contextual constraints, automated testing, and checks to enable contributor collaboration without diminishing system quality.
- Maintain operational responsibility for deployed systems—monitor failure modes, diagnose issues, and implement fixes promptly.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced expertise in Go programming language applied to large-scale, transactional production systems.
- Strong judgement in designing and operating multi-tenant, event-driven architectures and queue-based systems with awareness of associated failure risks.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies and a commitment to reliability, observability, and security best practices.
- Established agentic engineering methodologies that handle ambiguous inputs, systematically decompose work, enforce behavior verification, and prevent unvalidated code from reaching production.
- Proven ownership from end-to-end: leading from an undefined objective to delivering and managing a live system independently.
- Ability to make informed decisions amidst uncertainty by balancing objectives, constraints, and stakeholder insights; escalate only non-reversible matters.
Preferred Experience
- Background in fintech, real money gaming, or other high-traffic consumer services involving financial transactions.
- Familiarity with rules engines, real-time scoring, or automated decisioning platforms.
- Experience designing APIs tailored for multi-tenant or white-label services.
Role Clarifications
- This is an individual contributor position without direct reports or leadership responsibilities.
- This role does not involve directing architectural decisions for others.
- It requires self-driven prioritization rather than working against a pre-defined squad backlog.
- You will fully own system development including verification and production readiness without delegation.
- Agentic approaches to engineering are fundamental and continuously applied, not optional enhancements.
Work Culture
Expect a mature, purpose-driven, and low-ego environment valuing clarity, outcome-focused delivery, and balanced pace without chaos. You will collaborate with some of the top experts who share your commitment to technical excellence.
