About the Role
Google's software engineering team creates cutting-edge technologies that impact billions worldwide. Their initiatives extend beyond search to encompass areas including distributed computing, large-scale systems, AI, mobile development, and more. The Geo team focuses on building comprehensive mapping products like Google Maps, Earth, and Street View, serving over a billion users monthly. They also empower developers to integrate Google Maps platforms into their applications.
Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and support essential developer infrastructure such as end-to-end testing frameworks and core debugging tools.
- Ensure alignment across cross-functional teams on objectives, expected outcomes, and delivery schedules.
- Lead technical strategy geared towards enhancing developer efficiency by maintaining scalable testing and automation systems.
- Incorporate AI-powered solutions to address complex challenges in validation, debugging, and automation processes.
- Mentor and guide a geographically distributed engineering team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in software development.
- A minimum of 5 years specializing in Android application development.
- At least 3 years in a leadership role directing technical initiatives and project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience of 3 years or more working in a complex, matrixed organization with cross-team projects.
- Strong foundation in software design principles, including testing methodologies and debugging techniques.
- Familiarity or interest in AI and machine learning applications.
- Excellent collaboration skills and eagerness to learn from senior engineers and partner teams.
- A proactive attitude toward problem-solving and managing challenging technical issues.
