Job description
Role Overview
The AI Agents and Experience team is dedicated to transforming advanced model capabilities into practical, reliable product features that benefit creators, businesses, and their audiences. As an Applied AI Engineer, you will collaborate with product, design, data, and platform engineering teams to develop AI agents and AI-driven experiences that enable users to create, personalize, automate, and grow their presence using one Linktree.
This position is suited for a dynamic product engineer who excels at moving concepts through prototype to production. Rapid iteration, leveraging real-world usage data, and reinforcing effective solutions with evaluation tools, observability, safety measures, and solid product insight are key. This role focuses on building and shipping solutions rather than pure research.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, launch, and maintain end-user AI experiences that serve creators and visitors, taking projects from prototype to full production deployment.
- Design complex multi-agent workflows integrating prompting, tool usage, retrieval, memory/state management, orchestration, and human-in-the-loop controls as needed.
- Develop evaluation suites, regression testing frameworks, and quality metrics to ensure AI feature improvements are data-driven and deliberate.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—product, design, data, and trust—to clarify ambiguous user needs into straightforward, high-impact features.
- Optimize AI capabilities to ensure low latency, high reliability, cost-effectiveness, scalability, and robust safety.
- Analyze production feedback, customer support input, and behavioral metrics to refine models, prompts, policies, and overall product offerings.
Candidate Profile
- Strong foundation in software engineering with demonstrated success deploying production-grade systems end-to-end.
- Practical experience crafting AI products powered by large language models (LLMs), including agents, conversational platforms, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workflows, or similar.
- Expertise in building evaluation frameworks to measure and improve AI output quality.
- Keen product intuition to pinpoint authentic user problems, streamline solutions, and make pragmatic decisions balancing effort, scope, and quality.
- Ability to consistently evaluate trade-offs and maintain a simple yet effective systems architecture.
- Sound judgment regarding AI safety, trust, privacy concerns, abuse prevention, and failure modes.
- Excellent communication skills facilitating clear, collaborative partnerships across diverse teams, articulating trade-offs effectively.

Base salaries typically range from $240,000 to $250,000 for Los Angeles-based roles, with final offers dependent on factors such as geographic location, experience, expertise, and position scope.
Applicants who may not meet all listed qualifications are encouraged to apply as the company values diversity, inclusion, and hiring talented individuals with potential beyond a checklist.
