Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to become a key member of the Linkapps team, responsible for building the integration systems that enable creators to connect their digital presence through Linktree. These integrations include components like music players, online stores, mailing list signups, and event ticketing links, all powered by the platforms this team develops.

This position will have you working end-to-end across the full stack, designing and delivering services, APIs, and user-facing features tied to these integrations. You'll regularly interact with third-party APIs and SDKs, carefully reviewing partner terms, crafting robust integrations that withstand partner service disruptions, and deciding when to generalize solutions versus shipping pragmatic fixes. The role involves hands-on individual contributor efforts within a small distributed squad, closely collaborating with partners and focusing on creator-facing experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver full-stack features spanning partner-facing services to creator-facing interfaces within the Linkapps ecosystem.
  • Manage third-party integrations from initial evaluation of APIs/SDKs through design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Enhance and operate within the composable Link Apps framework to streamline future integration development without over-engineering.
  • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure, paying attention to security layers such as authentication, request rate limiting, version management, and graceful degradation strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and partnership teams to determine technical possibilities and maximize creator value.
  • Instrument your solutions and analyze resulting data to direct improvements, feature retention, or removal decisions.
  • Incorporate AI tools and techniques into development workflows and integration products where they add meaningful benefit.
  • Contribute positively to engineering team culture by engaging in clear communication, thorough code reviews, and leaving the codebase improved.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in professional software engineering, delivering production-quality, full-stack features.
  • Proficient in the core technology stack: TypeScript, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL or MySQL, GraphQL, and AWS services, with the ability to deliver features end-to-end independently.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with integrating third-party APIs and SDKs, including handling authentication, rate limits, versioning, and outage scenarios in production environments.
  • Comfortable navigating and safely modifying large existing codebases not originally authored by you.
  • Strong background in designing services and APIs within cloud-based, service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development platforms (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Codex), skilled in prompting, iterative refinement, validation, and enhancement of AI outputs.
  • Adept at working with ambiguous requirements and transforming loosely defined partner opportunities into shipped and measurable product features.
  • High attention to detail with an eye for quality user experience, including error states, loading feedback, and empty state handling.
  • Excellent asynchronous communication skills, collaborating effectively with distributed teams across product, design, partnerships, and business stakeholders.
  • Preferred candidate location: Australia (Melbourne, Sydney, or remote within the country).
