Staff Software Developer, iOS - Connected TV

As a Staff Software Developer on the CNN tvOS team, you will lead the architecture and development of mobile applications for iOS and tvOS platforms, helping shape mobile strategy and technical standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement engaging, user-friendly mobile apps for iOS and tvOS devices.
• Create and improve software tools and processes that enhance the core production pipeline.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Delivery, Editorial, and Engineering departments to deploy CNN's digital consumer solutions.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues, conducting root cause analyses to maintain system reliability.
• Maintain and support existing production systems integral to CNN's digital ecosystem.
• Support and mentor junior developers in technical growth and best practices.
• Ensure adherence to CNN Digital’s software development standards, including architecture, security, governance, unit testing, and monitoring protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Extensive experience (minimum 10 years) in professional software development environments.
• Advanced skills in application troubleshooting, design, usability considerations, and implementing complex projects.
• Strong proficiency in programming fundamentals including data structures and algorithms.
• Demonstrated expertise in full mobile stack development (native client, SDKs, build CI/CD pipelines, and APIs), especially with Swift and SwiftUI.
• In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, architecture, and scalable cloud solutions, preferably with AWS experience (AWS Professional Certification is a plus).
• Practical experience with mobile DevOps CI/CD tools and automation of code signing and testing; familiarity with Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle, CocoaPods, Terraform, and Appium is preferred.
• General knowledge of various database technologies such as SQL-based relational databases, NoSQL and graph databases.
• Excellent communication skills for effectively working with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience designing flexible software architectures to accommodate evolving business requirements.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like Amazon AWS, OpenStack, and OpenShift.

Compensation: Annual salary range from $138,000 to $220,800, plus eligibility for bonuses, incentives, and comprehensive benefits including health insurance, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, and paid leave.
