Role Overview
As a Staff Silicon Design Engineer at AMD, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing system-on-chip (SoC) verification for both new and existing features in ASIC and FPGA SoCs. The goal is to ensure that designs are free of defects before finalization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate as part of a globally distributed SoC verification team to validate next-generation ASIC and FPGA SoCs.
- Work closely with design, software, and architecture teams to verify the SoC designs under test.
- Create detailed SoC test plans, build testbenches, design test cases, and achieve complete functional coverage.
- Manage regression testing and aid in developing verification infrastructure.
- Design both directed and random verification tests to thoroughly vet the SoC.
- Investigate test failures, diagnose root causes, and coordinate with RTL and firmware engineers to fix design and test issues.
- Analyze functional and code coverage data, refining or adding tests and applying constraints to meet coverage goals.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- Expertise in SoC and IP-level ASIC and FPGA verification methodologies.
- Deep understanding of SoC architectures.
- Proficiency with Verilog/SystemVerilog, C/C++, and scripting languages such as Perl or Python.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with SystemVerilog and Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
- Proven ability to develop UVM-based verification testbenches, processes, and flows.
- Strong grasp of design flows, verification methodologies, and computational logic design and analysis.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with relevant professional experience.
