About The Team

The Core Cloud Platform group manages the entire cloud infrastructure, covering AWS account handling, networking, storage solutions, and Kubernetes orchestration. This platform underpins hundreds of services utilized by over 400 engineers distributed internationally.

Role Overview

This senior engineering role blends operational expertise and software development. You will lead significant projects, collaborating with senior engineers and leaders from multiple teams. A crucial responsibility is shaping the architectural direction of the cloud platform to support AlphaSense's rapid expansion. The role highly values the integration of AI tools to enhance infrastructure productivity and sophistication.

Key Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization technologies, and AWS cloud environments.
• Demonstrated success managing production-grade Kubernetes and cloud-based SaaS platforms at scale.
• Strong networking knowledge, including service mesh and gateway implementation in live environments.
• Advanced operational and diagnostic abilities across Kubernetes, database systems, messaging platforms, and storage layers.
• Proficiency in Python and Go, especially in developing infrastructure tooling or Kubernetes operators/control plane components.
• Advocate for efficient CI/CD processes supporting autonomous workflows.
• Proven capability in designing, leading, influencing, and delivering complex technical roadmaps.
• Preferred experience with tools like CAPI or Rancher for fleet management of Kubernetes clusters.
• Familiarity with secret management solutions such as Hashicorp Vault is advantageous.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms beyond AWS, including GCP and Azure, is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage, operate, and continuously enhance the cloud and Kubernetes platform infrastructure.
• Drive improvements in security, reliability, cost optimization, and overall system performance.
• Set standards, spearhead initiatives to unify platform practices, and eliminate redundancy.
• Work closely with product teams to empower them in owning and developing their services.
• Collaborate with other platform disciplines like SRE and Developer Experience to maintain a seamless platform ecosystem.
• Promote self-service models enabling autonomous workflows adhering to a "Build it - Own it" philosophy.
• Develop tooling and AI-powered integrations to reduce complexity and cognitive burden in infrastructure operations.
• Provide system support to a globally spread engineering community.
• Automate and execute operational procedures for critical and complex platform components.
• Architect simple, maintainable, and effective technical solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

The role offers a base salary range of $223,100 to $305,000 USD annually. Candidates may also be eligible for equity options and a comprehensive benefits package.
