Team Overview

The Account Experience team is responsible for the entire merchant-facing platform, facilitating interactions from initial account setup through daily operations. This includes managing Primer Companion, Merchant Account Setup, Monitors, Workflows, and Auditing along with ensuring a coherent and unified merchant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and define frontend technical strategy across multiple Account Experience teams including architectural decisions and component system design.
• Own the architecture of a complex, data-rich merchant platform focusing on scalable patterns, state management, and performance optimization as the system grows.
• Advance the development of Primer AI Companion as a primary merchant interface, focusing on frontend architecture that allows for a natural conversational experience.
• Ensure consistency across Account Setup, Monitors, Workflows, and Auditing by developing shared components and design system foundations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across teams through code reviews and design critiques to elevate frontend development standards.
• Champion often overlooked concerns such as accessibility, adherence to performance budgets, and frontend observability.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and backend engineering teams to inform decisions based on frontend constraints and possibilities.

Desired Qualifications

• Proven experience at a staff or principal engineer level with a track record of influencing frontend direction across multiple teams.
• Extensive expertise in TypeScript and React, particularly in architecting complex and long-standing web applications.
• Strong mastery of key frontend distinctions including scalable state management, performance tuning, accessibility standards, and component system design.
• Trusted technical judgment that earns respect and guidance from engineering peers.
• Capacity to understand backend APIs and services to effectively collaborate with backend engineers.
• Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate intricate technical decisions to Product, Design, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in payments, fintech, or platform-related fields is an advantage, but engineering depth is a primary focus.
