Job description

About Analog Devices

Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI) is a leading global semiconductor company that integrates analog, digital, AI, and software technologies to enable major advances at the Intelligent Edge. ADI's products address critical challenges such as climate change, connectivity, automation, robotics, mobility, healthcare, energy, and data centers. With over $11 billion in FY25 revenue, ADI supports innovators worldwide to stay ahead of technological possibilities.

Role Overview

The Precision Signal Chain (PSC) Back-End Measurement Team in Limerick, Ireland is seeking a seasoned Staff Design Evaluation Engineer. The PSC organization focuses on delivering outstanding precision measurement and signal conditioning solutions bridging physical and digital systems used extensively in instrumentation, industrial automation, healthcare, and emerging intelligent edge applications. The Back-End team supports transforming new mixed-signal silicon products into product-ready solutions through thorough testing and evaluation.

This role involves leading the design evaluation lifecycle for precision mixed-signal products including ADCs, DACs, micromodules, and ASSPs. Responsibilities include evaluation strategy definition, hardware/software development for test systems, silicon characterization, result analysis, and influencing product decisions. Close collaboration with design, test, applications, product engineering, and quality teams is essential. The position may require occasional travel (up to 10%).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead evaluation strategies, testing methods, and success criteria definition for new precision mixed-signal converter products from concept to production release.
  • Conduct technical reviews, assess timelines and risks, and implement mitigation plans across projects.
  • Create and integrate hardware, software, automation, fixtures, and data analysis tools to support product evaluation.
  • Perform bench-level measurements with rigorous experimental setups ensuring data integrity and repeatability.
  • Analyze measurement data, interpret results, document findings, and clearly communicate performance and issues to technical stakeholders and customers if required.
  • Investigate functional or performance issues, determine root causes through cross-functional collaboration, and influence design and test decisions based on measurement insights.
  • Provide technical leadership over multiple projects by mentoring engineers, improving measurement methodologies, and promoting best engineering practices across PSC and ADI Back-End teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
  • Substantial professional experience in semiconductor industry, especially in mixed-signal measurement, silicon design evaluation, or test development, with scope and expertise appropriate to Staff or Principal engineer level.
  • Strong foundation in mixed-signal electronics and ability to map converter performance to product requirements for effective evaluation.
  • Proven hands-on problem-solving skills, structured data analysis, and diagnosing silicon performance limitations.
  • Experience leading complex technical projects and influencing cross-functional engineering decisions.
  • In-depth knowledge of precision analog and mixed-signal circuits and measurement technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills to drive data-driven engineering solutions.

Preferred Experience

  • Practical experience using precision bench measurement equipment for ADCs, DACs, amplifiers, references, or power management devices.
  • Familiarity with mixed-signal hardware evaluation system development, PCB design/layout, and associated CAD or simulation software.
  • Knowledge of design-for-test methodologies, simulation-driven development, virtual testing environments, and pre-silicon verification.
  • Experience correlating bench measurements with automated test equipment to ensure robust product qualification.
  • Developing automated measurement and data analysis solutions in LabVIEW, C#, Python, or equivalent programming languages.
  • Demonstrated leadership including mentoring, project oversight, and communicating technical outcomes to customers and senior stakeholders.

Additional Information

This position gives an opportunity to directly connect mixed-signal design intent with silicon performance results, leading evaluation techniques and influencing product readiness. The role balances detailed hands-on work with wider impact through leadership, method development, and global process improvements.

Candidates requiring access to technical data may be subject to export licensing review in accordance with U.S. government regulations.

Analog Devices is an equal opportunity employer promoting diversity and inclusion in all aspects of employment.
