Job description
About Almedia
Almedia is a dynamically growing company aiming to become Germany's next bootstrapped unicorn, already ranked as Europe's third fastest growing company in 2025 (FT1000). We are revolutionizing marketing by incentivizing over 95 million users to interact with advertisements, providing a novel user acquisition model for major global corporations.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly driven Staff Data Scientist who takes full ownership and tackles substantial challenges at scale. The role involves identifying hidden opportunities through building advanced measurement systems, experimentation platforms, and causal models that drastically improve unit economics. You'll be fully responsible for these initiatives from conception to deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement measurement strategies using causal frameworks to uncover unit economics, attribution, and intervention effects.
- Create and maintain experimentation infrastructure that supports rapid testing and balances speed with statistical robustness.
- Design and manage high-impact models including pricing algorithms, ranking systems, and user incentives, collaborating with engineering teams to deploy and monitor these models effectively.
- Provide technical leadership by mentoring junior data scientists and shaping company-wide standards for causality and measurement approaches.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams to translate data-driven insights into actionable business strategies.
Candidate Profile
- Proven autonomous problem-solving experience, driving improvements in unit economics through innovative methods.
- Strong causal reasoning expertise with proficiency in techniques such as propensity score matching, difference-in-differences (DID), synthetic control, and instrumental variable estimation.
- Expertise in designing and managing complex multi-arm experiments, multi-touch attribution (MTA), marketing mix modeling (MMM), and uplift modeling, with an understanding of Type I and II statistical errors.
- Experience deploying and maintaining production models, particularly in contexts like Gaming, Advertising Technology, or user incentive platforms, with a focus on metrics ownership, monitoring, and model decay management.
- Competence in modern data engineering tools and environments such as dbt, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Terraform, with ability to architect solutions alongside engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills, able to clarify ambiguous scenarios, distill complex analyses into decision-making insights, and engage stakeholders effectively.
Why Join Almedia?
- Opportunity for rapid career growth within a profitable company that outperforms Big Tech in revenue per employee.
- A deliberately small, elite team where every new hire significantly elevates overall capability.
- Equity participation for all employees based in Berlin.
- Competitive top-of-market salary aligned with exceptional performance and impact.
