Role Overview
As a Staff Android Engineer at Tangerine, you will contribute to rebuilding our mobile banking and wealth management app. You'll develop and maintain scalable Android solutions that impact millions of customers daily. This role suits adaptable, collaborative professionals passionate about delivering high-quality digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust Android applications using Kotlin and Android SDK.
- Lead Android technical initiatives and provide best practice guidance.
- Review code to ensure performance, reliability, and quality.
- Mentor junior developers to foster growth and learning.
- Collaborate with QA, Backend, Product, and Design teams for end-to-end delivery.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize app speed and stability.
Required Skills and Expertise
- 5+ years of professional Android development experience, including deploying apps to Google Play Store.
- Advanced Kotlin proficiency; Java experience beneficial.
- Strong familiarity with Android frameworks/components such as Jetpack, Coroutines, LiveData/Flow.
- Proficient with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party libraries.
- Deep understanding of Android app architecture patterns like MVVM, MVI, and MVP.
- Knowledge of Google’s Material Design principles and Android UI/UX best practices.
- Experienced in Android Studio, Gradle build system, and Git version control.
- Skilled with Android testing frameworks.
- Comfortable in Agile/Scrum workflows including sprint planning and retrospectives.
