About IAG and the Role

NRMA Insurance, a key part of Insurance Australia Group (IAG), has been serving Australians with general insurance and community support for a century. IAG is dedicated to enhancing safety and wellbeing. As a Property Assessor, you will be instrumental in assisting customers after property damage by combining technical expertise and empathy to manage claims efficiently and effectively.

This permanent, full-time position is based mainly in the Australian Capital Territory and nearby New South Wales regions, requiring some travel. Candidates should ideally be ACT residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit customers' properties to evaluate damage, estimate repair requirements, and approve settlements.
  • Negotiate repair scopes, handle variations, and resolve total loss settlements with suppliers and clients.
  • Oversee repair progress, address delays, and ensure repairs meet quality standards.
  • Work with suppliers to implement cost-efficient solutions aligned with claims cost targets.
  • Collaborate closely with claims teams and partners to resolve complex issues and deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Identify and contribute to process improvements for continuous operational enhancements.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of four years’ experience in construction trades or loss adjusting.
  • Strong knowledge of claims management procedures and repair techniques.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness to travel as necessary.
  • A customer-centric approach with a commitment to quality outcomes.
