Specialist - Payroll

Position Summary

This role involves verifying the accuracy of financial figures, postings, and documents related to payroll. The specialist will organize, protect, and maintain all financial records, cash, and related documents following company policies. They will record and analyze electronic financial and payroll data and prepare detailed payroll and related reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update employee payroll files securely and accurately.
• Review and reconcile attendance data, work hours, and pay adjustments to ensure correct payroll posting.
• Back up transaction files and manage their transmission to the payroll system per organizational procedures.
• Execute payroll processing, including issuing paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
• Calculate employee wages and deductions like union dues, insurance, parking fees, and retirement contributions, inputting this data correctly into systems.
• Offer payroll-related support and information to employees and management regarding pay, taxes, benefits, and contract provisions.
• Process batch payroll adjustments as necessary and modify time clock settings to correct and manage employee schedules and restrictions.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company and employee information and adhere strictly to company policies.
• Communicate professionally, responding courteously to phone inquiries and fostering positive working relationships within the team.
• Perform physical activities involving lifting or moving objects up to 10 pounds as required.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least two years of experience in a related payroll or financial role.
• No supervisory experience needed.
• No certifications required for this position.
