Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Specialist Instructor in Elevator & Escalator Technology to join our Engineering team based in Qassim, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive theoretical and practical vocational education, equipping trainees for careers in elevator, escalator, moving walkway sectors, as well as facilities management, construction, and transportation infrastructure industries.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide classroom, lab, workshop, and hands-on training in Elevator and Escalator Technology.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, demonstrations, and practical exercises aligned with the approved curriculum.
- Train students on installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, and commissioning of elevator, escalator, and moving walkway systems.
- Instruct on mechanical, electrical, mechatronic, and control system fundamentals relevant to the domain.
- Coach trainees in preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis techniques.
- Enhance trainees’ skills in interpreting technical drawings, wiring schematics, manuals, and work instructions.
- Conduct theoretical, practical, and competency-based assessments, offering constructive feedback.
- Track trainee attendance, progress, achievements, and practical task performance with precise records.
- Ensure safe workshop and laboratory operations including use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, safe isolation, and risk control.
- Participate in curriculum design, quality assurance, audits, continuous process improvement, technical projects, site visits, and overseeing On-the-Job Training programs.
- Collaborate with employers and industry stakeholders to align training with workplace expectations and current industry standards.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Electromechanical, Industrial, Elevator & Escalator, Vertical Transportation Engineering, or a related technical engineering discipline.
- Technical teaching or vocational training certification, or readiness to obtain it.
- Assessor qualification or willingness to acquire it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced technical credentials related to elevator, escalator, moving walkway, mechatronics, or industrial maintenance.
- Manufacturer or industry-specific training in installation, maintenance, control systems, testing, or commissioning.
- Occupational health and safety certification applicable to engineering workshops or technical environments.
- Training in competency-based education and assessment methodologies.
Experience Expectations
- At least 5 years of industry experience with elevator, escalator, or moving walkway systems.
- Hands-on experience in installation, maintenance (preventive/corrective), mechanical, electrical or control systems, modernization, inspection, testing, commissioning, fault troubleshooting.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring schematics, maintenance manuals, test equipment, and service documentation.
- Strong practical knowledge of safety protocols in elevator/escalator working environments.
Additional Experience (Preferred)
- Background in teaching or providing technical training in vocational, technical, industrial, or engineering contexts.
- Competency-based training and practical assessment delivery experience.
- Support experience for apprenticeships, internships, or On-the-Job Training.
- Familiarity with the Saudi Arabian elevator, escalator, construction, transport, or facilities management sectors.
Technical Expertise
- Knowledge of traction and hydraulic elevator systems, including machine-room and machine-room-less types.
- Familiarity with mechanical and safety components of elevators, escalators, and moving walkways.
- Understanding of motors, drives, controllers, sensors, relays, contactors, protective devices, and safety circuits.
- Competence in electrical circuits, safe electrical practices, basic PLC concepts, and control logic.
- Skills in preventive, corrective, predictive maintenance, systematic troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Experience with inspection, testing, commissioning, quality standards, and technical documentation.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and use digital maintenance/reporting tools.
- Advantageous: Familiarity with AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Building Management Systems (BMS), BACnet, Modbus, or asset/maintenance management systems.
