Job description
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated South Indian Cook to join our kitchen team at ID Restaurant locations including Guindy, Vadapalani, and Marina Mall (Navalur, OMR). The role focuses on crafting authentic South Indian vegetarian dishes while upholding exemplary hygiene and quality standards to enhance the restaurant's reputation.
Primary Duties
- Prepare a diverse range of South Indian vegetarian items like idli, dosa, vada, pongal, sambar, chutneys, and other traditional tiffin and meal offerings.
- Maintain uniformity in flavor, texture, appearance, and portion sizes across all dishes.
- Manage mise-en-place activities for both tiffin and lunch/dinner menus daily.
- Adhere strictly to recipes and instructions provided by the Head Chef or standard operating procedures.
- Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the cooking environment and tools aligned with FSSAI and company hygiene protocols.
- Inspect the freshness and quality of raw ingredients, ensuring their proper storage using the FIFO system.
- Collaborate with kitchen and service teams during busy hours to guarantee prompt food delivery.
- Report any malfunctions or ingredient shortages immediately to supervisors.
- Assist in training and guiding junior kitchen personnel as needed.
- Consistently follow all safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in preparing South Indian vegetarian cuisine within a restaurant or quick service restaurant (QSR) environment.
- Awareness of kitchen operations, food safety standards, and hygiene practices.
- Capable of managing large-scale cooking efficiently and accurately.
- Positive demeanour, cooperative spirit, and eagerness to learn new skills.
- Basic communication skills in Tamil or another South Indian language preferred.
- Physical stamina to endure extended working hours in a high-temperature kitchen setting.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends and public holidays.
Additional Competencies
- Experience working at live dosa and tiffin counters is advantageous.
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen tools like steamers, dosa tawa, and tilting pans.
- Competence in managing kitchen inventory and minimizing food waste.
Compensation and Location
Monthly remuneration ranges from INR 15,000 to INR 25,000. Work locations include Guindy, Vadapalani, and Marina Mall (Navalur, OMR) branches of ID Restaurant.
