Overview
A prominent financial institution in the UAE is looking for an expert Solution Architect to join their team focused on the Open Finance and Woven platform. This pivotal role involves architecting and implementing a regulated Open Finance ecosystem while supporting wide-ranging digital banking transformations and enabling smooth API-based integrations for partners and fintech companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the end-to-end architecture for the Woven platform and Open Finance API ecosystem.
- Design and deliver scalable API architectures that support both CBUAE-compliant regulated Open Finance APIs and commercial partner-facing APIs.
- Formulate and oversee API platform strategies including developer portals, onboarding processes for partners, and monetization approaches for APIs.
- Lead the creation and deployment of API control planes using tools such as Kong and OpenMeter.
- Develop and maintain architecture decision records ensuring consensus among all stakeholders.
- Ensure strict adherence to CBUAE Open Finance regulatory requirements, security protocols, and governance policies.
- Integrate risk management, compliance, and audit control mechanisms into both architecture and software delivery workflows.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams spanning product management, engineering, risk management, and senior leadership.
- Provide architectural leadership across multiple banking segments including Retail, SME, and Corporate domains.
- Drive the integration of AI-powered architectural methodologies including the automation of design, documentation and governance workflows.
- Translate complex business strategies into feasible technical architectures and actionable implementation plans.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and deliver innovation-driven recommendations to enhance platform capabilities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive experience exceeding 10 years in solution architecture roles within digital banking, Open Banking/Open Finance, and regulated API platform environments.
- Deep knowledge of the UAE’s Open Finance framework including CBUAE guidelines, FAPI 2.0 standards, mutual TLS (mTLS), and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).
- Proven track record for designing and launching enterprise-grade API solutions.
- Hands-on expertise with API gateways such as Kong or equivalent.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Proficiency in microservices and event-driven system architectures.
- Comprehensive understanding of security, identity management, and compliance standards including OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), FAPI, SOC2, BCBS 239, and PDPL.
- Experience working in Tier-1 banks or similarly regulated settings.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills capable of communicating effectively with executive and technical teams.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize AI technologies in architecture and software development lifecycle processes such as automation, documentation, and testing.
- Exceptional capability to operate independently and steer strategic technology decisions.
