Role Overview
The opportunity is for an experienced Solution Architect who will define and design scalable, secure technology solutions primarily based on Java. The role includes shaping architectures, contributing to standards, and aligning solutions with enterprise-wide principles. Effective communication with senior stakeholders and collaboration across teams is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Create target architectures for specific business or technical domains while adhering to enterprise principles.
- Design architecture patterns involving APIs, integration, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Contribute to technology standards, guidelines, and reference architectures for new platforms.
- Design scalable, high-performance, maintainable Java enterprise solutions.
- Conduct architecture reviews ensuring solutions meet best practices and customer standards.
- Guide application modernization efforts including migration from monolithic to microservices.
- Work with delivery teams to ensure solution implementation aligns with designs.
- Research and evaluate technology products and market offerings tailored to customer needs.
- Recommend appropriate tools, frameworks, and technology stacks supporting strategy.
- Communicate architectural concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with senior IT stakeholders and cross-functional teams to inform decisions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect in enterprise or client-focused environments.
- Strong background designing and implementing Java-based enterprise applications.
- Expertise in application modernization, including replatforming monolithic systems to microservices.
- Familiarity with container platforms like Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift.
- Understanding of API design, integration patterns, and event-driven systems.
- Experience contributing to architectural standards, governance, and frameworks.
- Capability to conduct technology research and comparative analyses.
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage senior stakeholders in architectural decisions.
- Desirable: Knowledge of GIS technologies (ArcGIS, GeoServer), cloud-native patterns (Azure, AWS, GCP), and DevOps practices (CI/CD, infrastructure as code).
