Solar Energy Technician

Role Overview

Wave Power is seeking a capable Solar Energy Technician based in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, to handle the installation and maintenance of solar power systems including On-Grid, Off-Grid, and Hybrid configurations. This full-time position involves electrical, structural, and foundational work associated with solar installations.

Key Duties

• Installing and commissioning solar power systems (On-Grid, Off-Grid, Hybrid).
• Performing DC and AC wiring tasks related to solar PV setups.
• Mounting solar panels, inverters, batteries, DCDB, ACDB, earthings, and safety systems.
• Properly connecting MC4 connectors, organizing cables, terminations, and conducting necessary tests.
• Aligning and installing solar module mounting frameworks on rooftops or ground-mounted systems.
• Fabricating, drilling, cutting, leveling, and securing solar structures as needed.
• Executing foundation and basic civil tasks essential for ground solar structures.
• Marking layout locations and preparing foundations in accordance with system requirements.
• Ensuring correct module alignment, structural integrity, tilt angles, and orientation.
• Carrying out cable installation, conduit and cable tray setups with excellent cable management.
• Installing grounding and lightning protection systems.
• Assisting with inverter configuration, system testing, synchronization, and overall commissioning.
• Diagnosing and resolving electrical, wiring, inverter, battery, and generation issues.
• Performing preventive maintenance and repairs at various solar sites.
• Adhering strictly to safety protocols, including use of personal protective equipment and site safety standards.
• Maintaining quality standards while meeting project deadlines.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Strong practical skills in solar electrical wiring.
• Experience with installation of solar panels and mounting structures.
• Understanding of On-Grid, Off-Grid, and Hybrid solar power systems.
• Competence in foundation and basic civil construction related to solar setups.
• Knowledge of cable sizing, MC4 connectors, terminations, and protection equipment (DC/AC).
• Ability to operate basic electrical and construction tools effectively.
• Capability to interpret basic electrical diagrams and solar installation layouts.
• Familiarity with earthing systems, ACDB/DCDB, MCB/MCCB, SPD, isolators, and related protection devices.
• Comfortable working at heights and on rooftops.
• Ability to perform tasks independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates typically hold an ITI or Diploma in Electrician, Electrical, Solar, or a related trade. Previous solar installation experience ranging between one to three years is preferred, particularly for those adept in electrical, structural, and civil solar work.

Compensation Details

The monthly salary range is ₹12,000 to ₹15,000, influenced by experience, skills, and interview outcomes. Extensive experience in solar installation and commissioning can justify a higher salary within this scale.
