Multi Skill Technician

About the Role

The Multi Skill Technician will carry out routine preventive and breakdown maintenance tasks across various technical disciplines including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and minor civil works. This role demands swift responses to repair requests, ensuring faults are resolved promptly and facilities remain functional and safe.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond quickly to maintenance demands and resolve issues without delay.
• Perform regular inspections to detect maintenance needs and potential safety risks within the school facilities.
• Operate and update the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) by logging work orders, completed jobs, spare parts use, and equipment histories.
• Support continuous operation of utilities such as electricity, water, lighting, drainage, and sanitation systems.
• Maintain classrooms, labs, hostels, dining areas, sports zones, administrative offices, and shared spaces at optimal conditions.
• Execute minor repairs and refurbishment works campus-wide.
• Collaborate and assist external contractors during major repairs, annual maintenance, and renovation projects.
• Troubleshoot equipment and systems failures, proposing and implementing corrective measures.
• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of tools, equipment, and consumables; manage stock of spare parts and supplies.
• Keep detailed maintenance records, equipment logs, and inspection checklists.
• Support inventory control and asset tagging; schedule preventive maintenance and track equipment lifecycles through CMMS.
• Apply cost-effective maintenance practices to minimize downtime and reduce material wastage.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring all maintenance complies with fire, electrical, sanitation, and statutory regulations.
• Identify unsafe conditions, report them, and assist in corrective action implementation.
• Participate actively in emergency responses, evacuation drills, and disaster preparedness activities.
• Maintain safe and clean working areas including workshops, plant rooms, and storage.
• Work cooperatively with facilities, housekeeping, security, transport, and academic departments.
• Coordinate with supervisors to prioritize maintenance tasks according to operational needs.
• Support school events by ensuring all facilities and equipment are functional before, during, and after the event.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications & Experience

• Possess ITI, Diploma, or Trade Certification in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, Building Maintenance or other relevant technical fields.
• Have at least 5 to 8 years of experience in building maintenance or facilities operations at schools, universities, hospitals, hotels, or large commercial campuses.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and equipment documentation.
• Proven experience working across diverse maintenance trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and civil maintenance.
• Competent in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Basic computing skills including familiarity with MS Office and digital maintenance reporting.
