Software Test Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Software Test Engineer or Senior Test Engineer with expertise in software quality assurance within the Travel & Airlines sector. This role encompasses responsibilities like designing test cases, executing them, ensuring requirement traceability, setting up test environments and data, managing defects, supporting user acceptance testing, and maintaining overall quality assurance for applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, review, and perform test scenarios and cases across manual, functional, automation, and performance testing domains.
• Create and update the Requirement Traceability Matrix to guarantee full coverage of requirements.
• Conduct various testing types including smoke, sanity, functional, integration, regression, black-box, and white-box testing.
• Ensure readiness of test environments, prepare necessary test labs and data for execution.
• Run test cases, detect defects, and manage defect lifecycle including logging, tracking, reporting, and closure.
• Review and verify test documentation to confirm complete test coverage.
• Assist teams and clients during User Acceptance Testing and Business User Testing phases when required.
• Oversee defects raised by team members and coordinate assignment to the rightful owners.
• Maintain testing materials, knowledge bases, and quality assurance artifacts.
• Collaborate closely with developers, analysts, business and functional teams to resolve quality-related issues.
• Estimate the testing effort for assigned tasks and ensure completion within planned timelines.
• Implement an inclusive quality strategy encompassing domain expertise, user experience, functional, technical, and system quality aspects.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 2 years experience in Software Testing or Quality Engineering, with 4+ years preferred for senior roles.
• Practical experience in the Travel and Airlines domain is essential.
• Strong proficiency in manual and functional testing methodologies.
• Skilled in creating, executing, and reviewing test scenarios and cases.
• Experienced with the Requirement Traceability Matrix, defect management, smoke and sanity testing.
• Proficient in User Acceptance Testing, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing approaches.
• Knowledgeable in preparing test environments, test labs, and relevant test data.
• Understanding of both black-box and white-box testing techniques.
• Excellent analytical, communication, coordination, and documentation capabilities.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as in collaborative, cross-functional teams.
• Certification in Travel & Airlines domain is preferred or required where applicable.
