About the Role
AWS Infrastructure as Code simplifies the process for customers to adopt AWS services while ensuring secure cloud application operation. The team develops critical services such as CloudFormation and Cloud Control API, enabling customers to provision infrastructure on AWS efficiently and at massive scale.
The CloudFormation Core team focuses on the design and maintenance of the Control Plane and Asynchronous Workflow Engine that facilitate large-scale provisioning activities. This role leads the CloudFormation Control Plane domain to enhance customer infrastructure provisioning experiences and scale the service to handle an increasing number of operations seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the CloudFormation Control Plane initiative to improve customer experience in infrastructure provisioning.
- Drive scaling efforts to accommodate growing operation volumes.
- Collaborate with product and program management teams to define and deliver impactful features.
- Oversee engineering teams to maintain high standards of system design, reliability, and scalability.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years managing software engineering teams.
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience working within engineering teams.
- 3+ years designing or architecting new and existing systems focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
- 8+ years leading development of multi-tier web services.
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering best practices covering software lifecycle, coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
- Proven ability to partner with product and program management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experienced in communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements and articulate software design and strategy.
- Skilled in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineers to enhance their effectiveness and development skills.

Compensation and Benefits
The base salary ranges from 171400 to 286200 USD annually. Actual salary depends on experience, knowledge, and skills. The total compensation package may also include equity, sign-on bonuses, and comprehensive medical and financial benefits.
