About the Role

Joining Hudson River Trading (HRT) as a Python Software Engineer means becoming part of a small, highly effective team where coding drives the core business. Unlike traditional trading firms, at HRT your programming directly contributes to trading operations and technology innovation. The primary programming languages utilized are C++ for latency-critical systems and Python for a broad spectrum of other applications ranging from monitoring live trading to developing internal tools and managing data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop distributed computing software that serves multiple HRT offices and departments, incorporating cutting-edge Python technologies and software engineering methodologies to enhance both existing and new systems.
• Improve job orchestration and scheduling frameworks within HRT’s large computing clusters.
• Create and maintain Python development tools and environments used by all HRT developers.
• Automate, deploy, and monitor global trade management and post-trade analysis systems.
• Build hardware verification tools and related systems.
• Design software supporting diverse data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) pipelines, including market data, image, and text processing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.

• Deep familiarity with the Python ecosystem and adherence to best practices.
• Excellent skills in software design, debugging, and problem resolution.
• Competence with UNIX/Linux operating systems, including system/processor performance and network communication.
