Role Overview

This position focuses on developing software solutions directly for internal teams within specific business units rather than central engineering. The Junior Engineer will take full ownership of assigned problems from initial discussions to deployment in production, working closely alongside business personnel without relying on hand-off specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve a Go/No-Go decision on projects within five days after assignment.
  • Start development using internal tools that integrate current coding standards and automated validations.
  • Maintain full accountability for applications from validation through to graduation, ensuring the application does not change ownership.
  • Effectively guide coding agents using established patterns and assess their results critically.
  • Utilize governed data sources and existing platforms maintained by other teams, reporting any gaps rather than bypassing them.
  • Ensure applications are reproducible with pinned versions, comprehensive runbooks, telemetry, service-level objectives, and alert routing.
  • Limit simultaneous management to no more than three ungraduated applications at any time.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Ability to understand and interpret operations within finance, sales, or other business functions.
  • Proficient in directing coding agents and identifying incorrect outputs.
  • Skilled at reading and reasoning about code and delivering working software rather than prototypes.
  • Experience creating software tools adopted and utilized by others.
  • Backgrounds in business units such as finance, sales, or operations are welcome; formal engineering experience is not mandatory if able to guide coding agents effectively.
