Team Overview

The Money as a Service (MaaS) team is focused on revolutionizing how money functions through services like funding, foreign currency exchange, sending, and spending. This team creates APIs and enhances the product experience enabling global money management on Stripe. Recently, products such as Multicurrency balances and Global Payouts have been launched.

Within the Payments and Risk division, efforts are concentrated on building platforms and products for efficient payment acceptance, supporting non-card regional options, improving in-person payment acceptance, and delivering best-in-class checkout experiences. Additionally, the Risk Engineering team develops systems to minimize financial and regulatory risks while ensuring smooth user interaction to protect Stripe's integrity and financial health.

Role Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and sustain user interfaces, APIs, services, and scalable systems capable of reliably processing billions of money movement requests.
• Diagnose and resolve critical issues in production environments across different system components and levels.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to fellow engineers to aid their professional growth.
• Engage directly with product users to influence product enhancements.
• Work closely with various internal stakeholders to develop new functionalities at scale while refining engineering standards, tooling, and workflows.
• Effectively collaborate within a hybrid and distributed team setting, maintaining clear communication and strong coworker relationships.

Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

• Between 2 and 12+ years of experience in software engineering within industry settings (excluding internships or cooperative education).
• Proficient coding ability in any programming language, acknowledging that learning new languages on the job is acceptable.
• Demonstrated strong teamwork and collaboration skills across different workstreams to support collective success.
• Ability to work independently with initiative and an entrepreneurial approach.
• Willingness and interest to function as a generalist addressing diverse technologies and tech stacks to deliver satisfying solutions to both internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in creating user interfaces.
• Background in user research or interaction design.
• Expertise in designing and developing APIs.

Work Environment & Expectations

Employees assigned to an office location are generally expected to spend at least half of each month working onsite or meeting with users. This expectation varies by team, role, and location. Some offices, such as those in Mexico City, Bengaluru, and Dublin, have a 100% onsite work expectation. The hiring manager will provide specifics regarding in-office requirements, which balance teamwork, collaboration, and flexibility.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary in the main location is between £104,800 and £157,200, subject to adjustment based on your location and role level. Sales roles have On Target Earnings that include commissions and base salary. Further compensation details, benefits, and equity grants will be discussed during the recruitment process and vary by applicant location.
