Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the architecture, deployment, and ongoing operation of AWS's worldwide infrastructure, supporting data centers and essential hardware to maintain continuous customer service. Our team addresses complex challenges in supply chain dynamics and infrastructure management, involving a multidisciplinary group of software, hardware, network engineers, security professionals, and operations managers to uphold safety, security, and cost-efficiency at massive scale.
The Internet Edge Services (IES) team at AWS focuses on optimizing global internet connectivity through advanced software solutions that enhance network performance, availability, and operational insights across AWS's extensive infrastructure. As part of this team, you will develop and maintain large-scale web services critical to managing global internet traffic, ensuring peak customer experiences during high-demand occasions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze customer requirements and translate complex functional and technical needs into effective software designs.
- Advocate for feature and enhancement prioritization with leadership based on user impact and technical judgment.
- Deliver timely, high-quality software features and improvements reflecting rigorous standards.
- Continuously update technical expertise and lead efforts to integrate emerging technologies into the team’s solutions.
- Collaborate with both software and network engineers to prototype, refine, and enhance solutions.
- Monitor system health pro-actively, investigate customer incidents, and provide actionable improvements to increase robustness.
- Contribute code across diverse system components, including alarm definitions, optimization algorithms, and new feature development.
- Promote knowledge sharing within the Internet Edge Services organization.

The IES team delivers connectivity solutions supporting a wide range of AWS offerings such as amazon.com, Prime Video, CloudFront, Route53, and consumer devices like FireTV, Kindle, and Echo. This role provides an opportunity to work on one of the world's largest and most complex network platforms, contributing to AWS's global internet traffic optimization.

Basic Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional experience in software development outside of internships.
- Minimum 2 years experience in software system design or architecture, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling considerations.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 3 years of experience covering the full software development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification.
