Our efforts focus on training and deploying advanced models tailored for enterprises developing AI-enabled systems. We are driven by our goal to facilitate the broad adoption of AI technologies.

Our team comprises passionate researchers, engineers, and designers who each contribute to enhancing the capabilities of our AI models and delivering valuable outcomes for clients. Cohere operates globally with headquarters in Toronto and key offices in London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin, and Seoul.

About North Platform

North, Cohere's innovative AI workspace solution, transforms how enterprises leverage AI by providing a secure and customizable environment. It protects sensitive data and integrates seamlessly with existing workflows, enabling AI agents to connect with workplace tools and applications.

Role Overview

The Data Abstractions & Tools team within North is responsible for managing user data integration into the platform, including file and knowledge base uploads, agent skill extensions, third-party integrations, and data synchronization pipelines to enterprise sources.

This position involves end-to-end ownership of the integration pipeline, encompassing the addition of new external tools, supporting fellow engineers, overseeing the integration procedures, and developing evaluations and testing to ensure ongoing reliability and performance as the platform evolves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrations (tools) on the North agentic platform.
  • Manage the complete integration pipeline: design, deployment, and continuous maintenance of new tools.
  • Assist colleagues in developing their integrations and elevate team standards for integration development.
  • Design and implement evaluation and testing frameworks to verify integration functionality and proactively detect regressions.
  • Refine tool descriptions based on feedback and evaluation outcomes to enhance performance.
  • Apply AI methods creatively while ensuring high standards of quality and dependability in deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience delivering production code and comfort working with external APIs for integration.
  • Familiarity with evaluating agentic systems is highly preferred; at a minimum, understanding of evaluations, prompt engineering, and tool-description optimization is necessary.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.
  • High self-motivation and ability to learn rapidly and initiate improvements without needing detailed instructions.
  • Track record of full ownership from design through deployment, with a focus on quality outcomes.
  • A collaborative approach that emphasizes supporting fellow engineers beyond personal deliverables.

Location and Work Arrangement

This role supports remote work as well as presence in any of our location offices with no minimum in-office requirement. Candidates should confirm local time zone alignment with posted guidelines.

Employee Benefits

  • Weekly lunch allowance of $75/£75 or equivalent.
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage, plus dedicated mental health budget.
  • Retirement benefits such as RRSP matching, 401K, or pension plans.
  • Parental leave top-up coverage at 100% for up to six months for either parent.
  • Annual enrichment budget including arts, culture, wellness, and workspace improvement credits.
  • Education stipend for conferences, courses, and coaching.
  • 30 working days (6 weeks) of paid vacation.
  • Travel budget for remote employees to visit other offices and participation in yearly company offsite events.

Work Culture

  • Remote-friendly with offices worldwide including Toronto, London, NYC, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin, and Seoul.
  • In-office employees benefit from daily lunches, snacks, and community events.
  • Remote employees may access coworking benefits.
  • $500 home office setup stipend provided to all employees.

We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive workplace for all applicants and provide accommodations through our recruitment process upon request.
