Role Overview

As a member of the Data Abstractions & Tools team within North, you will focus on how users import and utilize data on the platform. Responsibilities include managing systems that facilitate file and knowledge base uploads, and developing frameworks for extending agents with new abilities and third-party integrations. The role is critical in managing the end-to-end integration pipeline, adding new tools, supporting colleagues in integration development, and ensuring the robustness of these integrations through continuous evaluation and testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain new and existing tool integrations on the North agentic platform.
• Take ownership of the entire integration workflow, from design through deployment to ongoing support.
• Support fellow engineers in incorporating third-party integrations and enhance team practices.
• Create evaluation processes and testing mechanisms to ensure integration functionality and prevent regressions.
• Optimize tool descriptions based on feedback and evaluation results to improve overall performance.
• Utilize AI actively within your work while being accountable for the quality and reliability of deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering production-level code and working with external APIs for integration purposes.
• Background in assessing agentic systems or familiarity with evaluation methodologies, prompt engineering, and tool description tuning is advantageous.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic environments and effectively manage shifting priorities.
• High initiative and self-motivation, capable of learning rapidly and driving improvements without exhaustive guidance.
• Proven track record of end-to-end project ownership with focus on product quality.
• Enjoys collaboration and assisting peers to successfully integrate their work alongside personal contributions.

Work Location

This position supports remote work from anywhere or from Cohere offices worldwide, including Montreal. There is no mandatory in-office presence, though alignment with core time zones or working hours may be advised.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is between CA$215,000 and CA$270,000 annually.
