About the Role
Join Mercury's Infrastructure team to enhance the foundational technology backbone that supports the entire organization. You will work on building scalable, secure, and manageable infrastructure platforms that empower engineering teams across the company. This role involves maintaining critical systems from networking and container orchestration to supporting AWS-based product needs, emphasizing speed, quality, and continuous delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and expand Mercury's Infrastructure Platform to meet growing engineering demands.
- Design platforms that are both AI-friendly and engineer-friendly, supporting interactions with both human users and intelligent agents.
- Lead critical infrastructure projects by breaking down complex efforts and producing detailed RFCs and technical documentation to define infrastructure strategies.
- Maintain production-grade, observable, and secure systems that allow frequent deployment without compromising stability.
Required Qualifications
- Over two years of hands-on experience working with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, OpenSearch, ECS, and EKS.
- Strong enthusiasm for cloud-native open source tools, with a readiness to contribute code to such projects.
- Deep knowledge of low-level operating system concepts, including Linux internals, file systems, and container technologies.
- At least two years of proven experience producing detailed technical documentation, including RFCs and technical specifications that explain complex subjects clearly.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience working in regulated environments like HITRUST or SOC2, ensuring compliance and security standards are met.
- A minimum of two years managing large-scale Terraform infrastructures with collaborative code contributions by multiple engineers.
- Two or more years of coding experience, particularly related to building infrastructure platforms.
- A strong willingness and curiosity to tackle challenging technical problems.
Technical Environment
Our infrastructure relies heavily on AWS and cloud-native open source technologies. Tools in use include Terraform for infrastructure as code, GitHub and GitHub Actions for source control and continuous delivery, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch, and OpenTelemetry for production monitoring and observability. We are also developing advanced infrastructure capable of enabling AI agents to safely interact with and operate our systems.

Compensation and Benefits
The total rewards package comprises base salary, equity in the form of stock options or RSUs, and benefits. Salaries are competitive within the SaaS and fintech sectors and are determined based on experience, expertise, location, and internal equity considerations.
For Canadian employees, the target base salary range for this position is CAD 115,700 to CAD 149,700 annually.
