This opportunity is for a Software Engineer II focusing on backend development within the Critical Email Products (CEP) team of the Message Security Products (MSP) organization based in Singapore. CEP delivers vital features enabling enterprises to fully transition away from legacy email gateways by consolidating onto Abnormal’s platform. The team currently manages a suite of Secure Email Gateway (SEG) capabilities such as URL rewriting and Email Digest features.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services powering the CEP product features.
• Design and optimize event-driven data pipelines (including Kafka consumers and Airflow DAGs) for dependable email traffic processing at enterprise scale.
• Support deployments across multi-tenant, multi-cloud environments including M365, Google Workspace, and FedRAMP compliance contexts.
• Utilize AI-powered development aids to explore innovative solutions and accelerate strong production releases.
• Collaborate closely with product teams and cross-functional partners to iterate quickly on features that facilitate customer migration from legacy SEGs to Abnormal’s platform.
• Enhance system reliability, monitoring capabilities, and operational quality as the CEP product surface grows.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Proficient in backend programming with Python or Golang.
• Proven ability to build scalable, enterprise-level applications.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong foundation in computer science concepts including data structures and performance optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using AI development assistance tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude.
• Background in event-driven architectures using systems such as Kafka or SQS.
• Knowledge of email delivery mechanisms, authentication protocols (DMARC, DKIM, SPF), and security-focused email products.
• Exposure to multi-tenant SaaS models and integrations with enterprise APIs like M365 and Google Workspace.
• Experience enhancing service reliability, observability, and operational tools in production environments.
• Previous work in cybersecurity, email security, or related compliance fields.
