Software Engineer - Homepass

Role Overview

We seek a Software Engineer to contribute significantly to our Homepass strategy by developing dependable, scalable software solutions for mobile and API platforms. The role involves full ownership of feature development from initial design to deployment, testing, maintenance, and ongoing enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Manage the complete lifecycle of small to medium projects including design, coding, testing, deployment, support, and continuous refinement.
• Design and implement scalable, reliable software systems addressing current and future requirements.
• Deliver incremental releases judiciously, evaluating risk and potential impact of decisions.
• Maintain high-quality code standards through rigorous testing, peer reviews, and comprehensive test coverage.
• Establish and promote best technical practices via code reviews, documentation, and collaborative work.
• Lead incremental modernisation of legacy systems ensuring stability of existing services.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Product and Design professionals.
• Build and operate backend services involving APIs, asynchronous workers, and third-party integrations in production environments.
• Participate actively within Agile development workflows.

Required Skills & Experience

• Expertise in TypeScript on both frontend and backend platforms.
• Proficiency in React Native or React frameworks, with readiness to work across both.
• Strong experience in Node.js backend development, creating RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Familiarity with document databases like MongoDB including query optimization and index design.
• Competent in AWS cloud services, understanding dashboards, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure components (experience with CDK or EKS is advantageous).
• Robust knowledge of testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests within CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of asynchronous messaging systems, such as SQS and event-driven architectures.
• Application security awareness aligned with OWASP standards.
• Cloud certification on AWS or equivalent platforms is preferred.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
