About the Role
Join Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) in Christchurch as a Software Engineer specializing in embedded systems and web applications. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the advancement of our Earthworks platform by merging embedded C++ control systems with cloud connectivity and developing modern web interfaces. Your work will enhance the productivity, safety, and efficiency of heavy machinery globally used in construction and mining industries.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance cross-platform system features for the Earthworks product, allowing efficient commissioning and operation of heavy machinery incorporating multiple sensing technologies.
- Write reliable embedded Linux software using C++ and build sophisticated web applications employing Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Participate in the design of distributed system architectures, identifying distinct subdomains and defining bounded contexts.
- Collaborate closely with global teams including domain experts and software engineers to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
- Promote engineering best practices to maintain high-quality, predictable, and continuously improving software delivery processes.
Required Skills and Experience
- A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Mechatronics, or related fields.
- Proven experience developing embedded software primarily in C++.
- Proficiency in building modern web applications using TypeScript and Angular (or similar JavaScript frameworks).
- Comprehensive understanding of software development lifecycle including requirements specification, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment, and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with embedded devices in industrial or Internet of Things (IoT) environments.
- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate within diverse, cross-functional international teams.

- Location: Christchurch, New Zealand; onsite position.
